Ronda L. Simmons

Ronda L. Simmons, a native of St. George, South Carolina, is the proud daughter of Joseph and Catherine Risher, and the late Carlie Murray. Mrs. Simmons is married to Reverend Douglas Simmons and is the mother of two adorable daughters, Taylor and Tyra Simmons. They currently reside in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University. Later she earned a Master of Education Degree in Mathematics Education and Education Specialist Degree in Administration from Cambridge College. Mrs. Simmons has been an educator for 24 years. She served sixteen of those years as a Teacher and District Instructional Facilitator in Dorchester School District Four. She is currently serving as the Principal of Thomas E. Kerns Elementary School in Greenville County.

Her accolades range from St. George Elementary PTA Teacher of the Year (1996), Williams Memorial School Teacher of the Year (1998), St. George Middle School Teacher of the Year (2004), and St. George Middle School PTA Teacher of the Year (2004). Mrs. Simmons accepted the opportunity to present at the South Carolina Rural Education Association Conference in Columbia S.C. and the National Rural Education Association Conference in Portland, Oregon on “Student Led Conferences” in 2001-2002. She has also presented at Parent University Workshops and Professional Development Workshops for her past and present school districts.

Mrs. Simmons is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators and South Carolina Leaders of Mathematic. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and The Orangeburg Alliance of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows.

While Mrs. Simmons enjoys her accomplishments, they do not take the place of serving in the church. She has served in various positions affiliated with church such as Youth Director, Women’s Ministry Leader, 4Real Outreach Ministry Co-Director, Bible Study Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Senior’s Day Chairperson, Christian Education Director, and speaker/teacher for women’s events. Mrs. Simmons has assisted her husband in conducting workshops for the Wateree Baptist Association Upper Division and other churches. Mrs. Simmons loves God, her family and friends, children, reading, teaching and learning. Her philosophy is, “To Live in the Fullness of God; Nothing Needed, Nothing Wanted, Nothing Missing!”
